Businesses across the region can access a remarkable opportunity: a free, year-long workplace health and safety consultation service provided by independent OHS experts. This initiative empowers businesses to fulfil their obligations under the OHS Act 2004 (Vic) while prioritising the safety of employees and on-site personnel, all without incurring the typical costs associated with engaging an OHS Consultant.
Key program features
Quality: Your OHS Consultant appointed and approved by WorkSafe hold tertiary qualifications are entrusted to deliver this program.
Personalisation: Your OHS Consultant will visit your workplace to provide tailored safety recommendations specific to your business's needs and environment.
No Cost for Consultation: Thanks to full funding from WorkSafe, businesses can benefit from three on-site visits and receive a personalised high-level report at absolutely no cost. However, implementation costs for recommended actions are likely to apply.
Confidentiality: Recommendations from your OHS Consultants remain completely confidential, as they are not employed by WorkSafe.
Do you qualify?
To qualify for this invaluable service, businesses must have 60 workers or less (60 Full-time Time Employees or equivalent) and possess a valid WorkCover Insurance policy. Sole traders with contractors may also be eligible.
What to expect
Throughout the 12-month period, your assigned OHS Essentials Consultant will conduct three on-site visits to identify and address key workplace hazards, providing comprehensive, practical, and personalised recommendations to prevent injuries and illness.
Each visit typically lasts up to 3 hours, requiring the presence of key leadership and OHS personnel for effective collaboration. While the initial assessment occurs during the first visit, subsequent visits at 6 and 12 months focus on monitoring progress and providing additional support as needed.
Partnering for success with FCHR
The OHS Essentials Program including 3 site visits and high-level report is provided as a funded program from Worksafe at no cost to you. Separately, you can engage Full Circle HR & Business Services to work with you to coordinate and deliver the recommendations outlined in your report after the initial visit. Commonly we work with clients to break down the findings into achievable bites to support the outcomes, including:
- develop/update business policy and employee handbooks
- develop/update your OHS Management System
- develop/update OHS documentation inclulding assessments and registers
- book testing, training and licencing services
- coordinating a range of onsite actions
- plan and run Safety Toolbox Meetings with your team
- Integrate OHS technology into your business for effective oversight and management.
