The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has opened up for a full-time Rural Supplies Manager to join the team in Sale, Gippsland, VIC in this newly created role.

Our client is a family-owned and operated business with a commitment to serving the local community. They pride themselves on exceptional customer service, specialising in rural supplies and stockfeed, catering to farming needs, premium stockfeed, and comprehensive animal health care products. They are a one-stop destination for all things agricultural.

Due to growth in the business, they are seeking applications from suitably experienced applicants with previous experience in agribusiness, a passion for agriculture and customer service excellence. The successful candidate will collaborate within a team, uphold high standards of presentation, and demonstrate a task-oriented focus in a fast-paced environment.

About the Role

As the Rural Supplies Manager, you will be responsible for managing inventory, controlling stock, providing quotes, coordinating deliveries to farms, and supervising other team members. You will collaborate closely with management and team members to meet the needs and expectations of our clients and customers in a proactive and professional manner. With a primary focus on the rural supplies part of the business, this role requires initiative, as well as strong organisational and communication skills to ensure efficient operations and customer satisfaction in this vital area of the business.

More specifically, some of your key responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Inventory Management: monitoring stock levels, processing orders, and managing goods documentation
  • Supplier Relations: establishing and maintaining relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring smooth transactions
  • Customer Service: promptly addressing inquiries, assisting with orders, and resolving concerns to ensure satisfaction
  • Staff Supervision: providing guidance, delegating tasks, and offering feedback to team members
  • Logistics Coordination: planning transportation schedules, monitoring inventory, and optimising distribution routes
  • Problem-solving: identifying issues, implementing solutions, and communicating effectively within the team
  • Quoting: preparing and customising price quotations, and following up with clients

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will have the following attributes, however not limited to:

  • Forklift Licence (or the ability to attain prior to, or shortly after, commencement)
  • Full Driver’s Licence (essential)
  • Experience in the agricultural industry (essential)
  • MR Truck Licence (desirable)
  • Knowledge of pasture seed, fertiliser, chemicals, fencing, animal health and general merchandise
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of merchandise/inventory control
  • Proven sales experience
  • Trustworthy, self-motivated, and the ability to work autonomously while being a strong team player
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in completing tasks
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Professional demeanour with strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of MS Office

Position Specific Requirements

This position has the following specific requirements:

  • Current Drivers Licence or the ability to travel independently without limitation
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa
  • National Police Check (no more than 3 months old)
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Satisfactory completion of 2 professional reference checks
  • Applicants will be subject to a probation period of six months
