As an Automation and Mechatronics Engineer, you will contribute to the design, integration and commissioning of automation systems supporting Modra’s product range.
Working closely with the Product Development Manager and engineering team, you will solve complex problems and support the delivery of reliable, high-performance systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and integrating mechatronic systems across mechanical, electrical and control domains
- Developing and maintaining control software (C#, Python) and PLC systems (Beckhoff TwinCAT preferred)
- Supporting system testing, debugging and commissioning both in-house and on-site
- Troubleshooting complex issues across multidisciplinary systems
- Contributing to product development and continuous improvement initiatives
About you
You are an Automation or Mechatronics Engineer with post-qualification experience in industrial or manufacturing environments who enjoys working hands-on with real systems.
You bring:
- Experience with automation, control systems or mechatronics in industrial settings
- Capability across PLC-based control systems and motion control
- Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical and software domains
- The ability to work with autonomy and apply sound engineering judgement
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work within a small team
Experience with Beckhoff PLCs, TwinCAT, C#, Python or similar technologies will be highly regarded.
Location and requirements
This role is based on-site in Warragul, Victoria.
Due to the hands-on nature of the work, including system integration, equipment development and commissioning, on-site presence is essential. Remote or hybrid arrangements are not available.
Occasional interstate or international travel (typically 1–3 times per year) may be required to support commissioning and deployment.
Modra is not currently able to offer visa sponsorship. Applicants must have unrestricted working rights in Australia and unrestricted travel internationally.
Relocation support may be available for the successful candidate.
