About Modra Technology

Modra Technology is a world leader in the design and manufacture of sample weaving and textile machinery. Proudly based in Warragul, Victoria, we provide precision-engineered equipment to clients across the carpet, textile, and research sectors. Our machines are designed, built, and tested in-house, supporting a culture of innovation, quality, and craftsmanship.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Assembler/Assembly Fitter to join our growing manufacturing team. The successful applicant will contribute to the assembly, fitting, and testing of Modra machines and components, ensuring high standards of quality and safety. This hands-on role involves interpreting technical drawings, using a range of tools and equipment, and working collaboratively in a workshop environment.

You will have the opportunity to work across multiple stages of production and support continuous improvement, with scope for skill development and role progression.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Assemble Modra Technology machinery and components per specifications and technical drawings
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and accurately
  • Perform basic machining (e.g., drilling, tapping, cutting) and fabrication tasks
  • Assist in quality control, machine testing, and preparing parts for shipment
  • Maintain workshop safety, cleanliness, and equipment care
  • Accurately record work hours and contribute to team targets

About You

We are currently seeking Level 2 or 3 Assemblers - with either experience in assembly, fitting or manufacture, or a relevant trade. Applicants with both suitable trade and experience are paid accordingly.

This current opportunity is not suited to entry level candidates without experience.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical assembly or machining
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and follow instructions
  • Commitment to safe work practices and OHS compliance
  • Physical capacity to work on your feet and undertake manual handling
  • Attention to detail and pride in producing quality workmanship
  • Teamwork, reliability, and a willingness to learn and contribute

Desirable (not essential):

  • Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade or equivalent relevant trade qualification
  • Australian full and unrestricted Drivers License
  • Forklift license (and experience valued)

Work Environment and Benefits

  • Permanent full-time role, 76 hours per fortnight
  • Standard hours: 7:00 AM or 8:00 AM– 3:00 PM / 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday
  • Occasional overtime (weekdays or weekends) by approval
